Emerge! is an art festival presented by Hannan Center, open to emerging artists aged 55 and up. New for 2024, we are thrilled to introduce the Next Generation Awards, celebrating artists aged 54 and younger as well. Artists are invited to submit up to two pieces of work that align with the competition’s theme, which will be judged by a panel of esteemed art professionals and voted on by the arts community. Winners will be announced during a day of arts-focused activities at Hannan Center.

The contest is open to the public in two categories:

1. Artists 55 and Older:
   Open to artists aged 55 and up who are caregivers or whose art reflects caregiving.
2. 2024 Next Generation Artists:
   Open to artists aged 54 and younger who are caregivers or whose art reflects caregiving.

• Limit two pieces per artist

Who can apply?

This contest is open to the public. Artists age 55 and up can submit up to 2 entries for the main prize. Artists aged 54 and younger can submit up to 2 entries to be considered for the Next Generation award.

What types of art are accepted?

All media types are accepted. Examples include but are not limited to: Performance art, poetry, spoken word, ceramics, drawing, painting, etc.

What is the deadline for submissions?

The deadline to submit is July 12 at 11:59 pm.

How many pieces are we allowed to submit?

Artists can submit up to 2 entries.

When will the artists be notified?

Artists will be notified of their acceptance into the exhibit by July 18, 2024. Winners will be announced at the Festival event on August 24, 2024.
